Stephanie Van Huss

has been a professional theater-maker and educator for over 12 years. She holds degrees from Rutgers University in Theater Arts & English Literature, and a Masters Degree in Education.

In her higher education career, Stephanie has worked for Rutgers University - New Brunswick, Fordham University, Raritan Valley Community College, The College of New Jersey, and Rider University’s Westminster School for the Performing Arts. This work has included formal course instruction, program coordination, student involvement advising, workshop creation & facilitation, and crisis management. She specialized in the areas of sexual assault & domestic violence prevention and survivor resources; alcohol addiction & recovery; social justice education; restorative justice practices; and leadership development.

Stephanie is a professional Intimacy Director and Coordinator throughout the tri-state area. She currently serves as the Intimacy Director-in-Residence at Luna Stage in West Orange, NJ. Her practices for healthy staged intimacy have been used to choreograph and train participants in K-12, collegiate, community, and professional performing arts settings. She has been the Director of Education for New Jersey Center for Theatrical Intimacy since 2021.

Van Huss has been directing theater for over 10 years. She recently wrote and directed an original verbatim theater piece called TRUEly Heard - created in partnership with the Middlesex County Center for Empowerment and coLAB Arts. The play explores true stories of survivors of sexual assault & domestic violence and the reasons they were afraid to disclose their experiences - both in their personal lives and to authorities.

As a lead teaching artist and curriculum developer, she has worked with coLAB Arts, Fresh Theatre Arts, countless public & private schools, and many summer programs to bring theater education to K - 12 students and their teachers. Stephanie specializes in teaching socially-engaged art, intimacy direction, acting, producing, props mastery, set design, costume design, and sound design.

In her life as a producer, Van Huss served as the Executive Director of ReThink Theatrical, a 501-C-3 non-profit theater organization based in Middlesex county that provided free, professional-quality theater to the public for 8 years.
